i don’t like that this movie is coming out once he is out of office. Pretty weak.

I have to say, I had reservations about this movie, but now I can’t wait to see it.

Bush may surprise you. He’s done plenty wrong, but I suspect history may view him a bit more favorably than he is now.

    DUDE,

Bush isn’t out of office until January. This movie is scheduled to come out Oct/Nov. It might be after the election, but not after Bush is out of office.

there was a time when Stone produced thought provoking and interesting movies… this trailer however seems like it might be as interesting as his “Any Given Sunday” attempt.

One of the worst directors of all time, making a movie about one of the worst presidents of all time, using one of the best songs of all time to sell it.

I think this is one of the best trailers ever cut. Using irony, sarcasm, and satire even, every shot appears to have a double meaning and damns the president. Just look at a few of the many shots and lines they used:

    - “You’re the devil… devil in a white hat.”
    - “Enhanced interrogation techniques utilize fear scenarios.” “You mean like pulling out their toenails? Heh, heh, heh.”
    - Condi Rice’s only shot being that of her giving the “hush” gesture
    - The ending montage of Bush fighting his father, giving a victory arms-up in a baseball jersey, bombs going off, and an American flag burning to the chorus of “same as it ever was… same as it ever was…”

BULLSH*T! Oliver Stone wouldn’t know “TRUTH” if it smacked him in the middle of his liberal forehead!!!!

Straight to DVD. I’d like to see him try to make something as exaggerated and embellished as this about Vladimir Putin - we’d have a very dead Oliver Stone.

Just like “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”? Not quite. A hell of a lot more people were tortured and killed in this horror story.

looks like a good movie, although i dunno if he expects us to believe this to be factual or not. i’d really hope not, as it mostly looks like a high production value version of a madtv sketch…i love madtv, but im not gonna take it that seriously.

and i highly doubt rove ever said “people loved afghanistan” or that bush ever believed that. even liberals dont think that he believed that…

I was hoping it would be more of a comedy. A straightforward drama was be dull and depressing.

That has got to be one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever seen. Whatever happened to films that made America look like a strong country. How can we say we’re proud to be Americans when we bad mouth our leaders in this manner. It’s just plain dumb. Since when did Oliver Stone become a great, intelligent, political leader that he can make a movie like this with confidence… blech.

  26. 26
    Eric:

Buddy, are you really proud to be an American right now? After everything we’ve been led to believe? After allowing these crooks and charlatans to steal our country right out from underneath us? After NO ONE DID ANYTHING ABOUT IT? Can you honestly say that you are happy with the legacy of Bush and his cronies? They’ve screwed you, your children, your children’s children. Countless generations will be devastated by this man. And you think that Oliver Stone has no right to say what he wants to say about it? Good luck. America as we know it is dead. You’re the proof. Die in a fire, you moron.

With Bush being one of the worst Presidents in our short history, this film should be at the very least interesting. Any Bush supporters should be placed at the front line of the Iraq war with only waterguns and cowboy hats. Stupidity of the overall voter is beyond amazing. Either Obama or McCain could only be an improvement, thank God!

    @Brandon & David
Are you guys nuts? You may see your president through rose tinted glasses but the truth is, he is a mass murderer… of his own citizens!
After the truth started leaking out following 9/1, this guy joined the same club as Pol Pot, Saddam Hussein and other dictators who surreptitiously stripped their own people of their power, their rights and, for many thousands of good Americans, their lives.
Killing your own people, killing your own constitution, and now killing the Global Economy isnothing to be proud of.
I truly believe that GWB should be the first US President to be executed for his crimes, so serious are they…

I am as offended by this movie as I was “Wag the Dog” loosely based on the Clinton Presidency. Is there no respect for the Office? I don’t care if you think W is the worst or the best but give the man the respect that the Office deserves! After all, If we don’t respect it how can we expect other nations to respect US???

Can not wait to see the movie. . . and rejoice at the thought that a 8-year-long nightmare is finally coming to an end. Let us hope that its aftermath wil be shorter. . .

I agree with the author above. The left wingger may hate Bush but only the historians who has PHD can write history about presidents and I know that they will be more kind to him. Americans are illiterate for 25% of them hold a bachelor degree and beyond. San Jose has 40% and beyond. Before you make a observation about any U.S. president you may want to learn how to read and write first.

    From Indy.com

The big screen: ‘W: The Movie’ vs. Oliver Stone’s ‘W.’

    by joe.shearer

Oliver Stone’s “W” is not the only cinematic portrait of President George W. Bush that you can see at local theaters this week. Indianapolis-based Pink and Blue Films, along with Asylum House Productions, has filmed its own version of “W: The Movie,” a surreal, cartoonish, underground take on the second Bush presidency, screening at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Earth House, 237 N. East St.

Budget and production values aside, which version is the more accurate portrayal of Dubya? That may be for history to decide, but here’s a quick comparison of the films.

    Plot

“W The Movie”: A meteor containing an ectoplasm-encased W crashes in the Arizona desert. W, his face painted like a pro wrestler, breaks free, steals the presidency, and launches an all-out war with freedom and justice, opposed by the journalist The Blue Mahler.

Oliver Stone’s “W”: An affable, dunderheaded ne’er-do-well Texas blueblood ascends to the presidency in an effort to live up to his daddy’s expectations and is manipulated into a cash-grab war by his advisors.

    Lead actor

“W The Movie”: Alfred Eaker (W and Blue Mahler).

Oliver Stone’s “W”: Josh Brolin (George W. Bush).

    Director

“W The Movie”: Alfred Eaker and Ross St. Just.

    Oliver Stone’s “W”: Oliver Stone.

    Best line

W The Movie”: On 9/11, Bush asks where the Twin Towers are, then instructs his aide to “send that country a dozen roses.”

Oliver Stone’s “W”: George H.W. Bush, on W’s womanizing and drinking: “Who do you think you are ….. a Kennedy? You’re a Bush. Act like one.”

    Best characteristic

“W The Movie”: Nightmarish, provocative and imaginative.

Oliver Stone’s “W”: An uncharacteristically fair and level-headed portrait by a usually sensationalistic director.

    Worst characteristic

“W The Movie”: Drags on about 20 minutes too long; is perhaps a bit too one-sided.

Oliver Stone’s “W”: Drags on about 20 minutes too long; is not one-sided enough.

    Best character

“W The Movie”: Eaker as Blue Mahler, a free-thinker who dares to take on a tyrannical government.

Oliver Stone’s “W”: Jeffrey Wright as Colin Powell, the lone voice of reason in Bush’s power-hungry cabinet.

    Portrayal of Bush

“W The Movie”: Cruel, sadistic tyrant.

Oliver Stone’s “W”: Principled and likable, if a bit dense

Goodness, face it, however you look at it, while Bush was the president, there was no 2nd 9/11. What is so bad about keeping his promise that under his watch never again America will be attacked. Do you think if America is not defended vigorously from the terrorist, do you think we would ever survive? how can America’s economy survive and democracy survive if we do not fight the terrorist. The radicals have it all distorted from the beginning. It is unbelievable for most people to brand Bush the terrorist and praise the Islam radicals as the good guys. You have no idea what it meant and experienced tyranny from a dictatorial government as Iraq was. It is appalling how most Americans and most of the world condemned Bush’s decision to help the people of Iraq. That is what America stands for, fight for democracy, not only in America but for other people in the world who would want to experience freedom. Distortion of the truth is the only weapon of the anti-Christ everywhere. You dig?
