When a meteorite from outer space hits a young California girl named Susan Murphy and turns her into a giant monster, she is taken to a secret government compound where she meets a ragtag group of monsters also rounded up over the years. As a last resort, under the guidance of General W.R. Monger, on a desperate order from The President, the motley crew of Monsters is called into action to combat the aliens and save the world from imminent destruction!

This looks like a great children/family film with lots of laughs. The whole screaming when a monster is introduced had me rolling, i always liked the originality of the storys that dreamworks come out with. From the over exagerated security clearence to the “ET GO HOME” on the missles, i like the fact that they kept Susan as a human and not turn her into a monster, to show diversity i guess. But this movie is going to do great, like all the movies that they produce. Cant wait to see it in the theaters. Great Leak.

This, like all Dreamworks Animations, will be complete and utter poop. The environments, models and animation will be great. The story, on the other hand, will be typical Dreamworks fair featuring cliches, pop culture references, horrid pacing and unengaging characters. The only thing this movie has going for it is that it’s not Disney’s Meet the Robinsons.

I agree that Dreamworks tends to rely a bit much on the whole pop culture reference thingly, particularly in their “period” pieces. I still hope for the best for this one though.

Mr fun is right though, as good a movie as it may seems, most of dreamworks movies can be summed up right there. Its like having the most realistic video game ever, but its a game about splashing in puddles
